Recently, The Pampered Spirit partnered with Meridian Health Care Systems and Circles Concierge out of Boston Massacuttes to offer in-room treatments to patients. As massage therapists and company's across the country know this is a moment to rejoice! Spa services are a welcome addition to health care facilities.
The Pampered Spirit, a New Jersey based premier mobile spa business, has partnered with Circles, one of the largest concierge services in the U.S., to offer a complete line of spa services to patients at Meridian Hospitals.
Spa services are now available in-room. The services are available to all patients of the medical Centers, designed to address non-clinical needs. The menu offers a wide array of massage options, including back, neck and shoulder massage, hand and foot reflexology and even pre and post operation Reiki sessions. As a Mobile Spa Owner, often I am asked, “How much do I tip?” In our company, we feel that a tip is a voluntary gesture of appreciation for good or excellent service. I leave that to the discretion of the client. A tip is not, in my opinion, an entitlement.
Our policy refrains from the use of automatic service charges. How can you tip on a service you haven’t had yet? Tipping, if at all, should be based on your overall experience from customer service to the timeliness of your appointment, the quality of service, the preparedness of the person performing the services and the overall professionalism of your provider . If it’s compulsory, it’s not a gratuity.
Customers routinely ask me “what do you suggest is a good percentage for a tip?” I say; “tipping is 100% voluntary” or “We believe that a gratuity is a gesture of thanks for excellent service and it the prerogative of our guests”. Careful to not cross that fuzzy line of good taste.
Sometimes more information is needed. Keeping in mind the general tipping percentages within other service industries like restaurants for example being between %15-%20 , you book a 60 minute $100 service . So now you have it in your head you have to budget an extra $15-$20 for the service. Sometimes the extra cashola can be a deciding factor whether or not you book a Massage. What if the service was terrible? The technician was late, she forgot the aromatherapy you requested and you asked for a relaxation massage but wound up with Trigger Point therapy, now what? How about if the service was really excellent? Do you leave a larger tip? It is a personal preference either way.
So when asked “how much do I tip on a 60 minute massage, I say; “If you are so inclined to leave a tip please enjoy your service first since there are several variables that can come into play. Base it on the service I like to tell my customer”. Oh and by the way it is not customary to tip the owner of the business.
We believe that relationship building, referrals and repeat bookings is the greater goal of The Pampered Spirit Staff. So thank you very much if you if you would like to leave a tip. We do appreciate your business most!

What Do You Mean by "Mobile" Exactly?

Several times a month I receive calls from potential clients asking, "what do you mean by a Mobile Spa? or What is it exactly" Some assume that I come in an RV and the services take place outside in a Van, Truck or some sort of vehicle. While there are some Mobile Spa Company's that provide spa services in a fully equiped vehicle generally Mobile Spa Company's including The Pampered Spirit bring the spa into the home, office, hotel suite or basically inside wherever your venue is being held.

There is this missconception out there among the public as to what is Mobile Business as it pertains to Mobile Spas. Perhaps because when you google Mobile Business you will find a slew of Wireless Phone company's or software designed for employees' to work remotely from home and then there is the Mobile Home dealerships as well as portable Mobile Spa's or Jacuzzi's as I like to refer to them as.

Is there another term that is best suited for the Mobile Spa business? Travelling Day Spa brings about the same questions. Out call services is dated and denotes a different connotation that professional massage therapist do not care to be associated with. In-home services are traditionally geared toward flooring, carpet, handyman services in my experience.

When I research similar Mobile business's like The Pampered Spirit Mobile Massage & Spa, I find the term Mobile seems to be the generally catch phrase business owners use to capture their audience. So why all the confussion? It could be that Mobile Spa's are a fairly new concept over the past five years and gaining popularity and momentum daily. Maybe there is another phrase that would help the general public besides Mobile?

Surprise, You're Getting a Massage!

Twice a month on average I receive phone calls from people who want to "Surprise" someone with a massage or spa treatment. It amazes me as to the extent some people will go to pull it off. I have had the pleasure of arriving at homes of wives, parents, husbands, girlfriends, grandparents, daughters and couples and saying; "Hi my name is Bridget I am from The Pampered Spirit Mobile Massage & Spa and I am here to give you a massage......The look on some of their faces is priceless! Here are a few memorable stories....

Girlfriend's Birthday Surprise: I recently scheduled a massage & facial for a young man surprising his girlfriend for her 25th birthday. We talked on the phone several time before the actual date. Timing is everything I told him. If she gets home at 2:30 and you want to leave at 6pm for dinner we have to plan this right. "So here's the plan, I'll arrive at 2:50, set up the table and begin the massage at 3pm. At 4:05 the facialist will come in and set up. Your girlfriend won't even have to get off the table! In the downtime it takes to "change the guard" so to speak I will treat her to a hand and foot treatment with heated mitts and booties." He loved the idea and we confirmed the details twice. Needless to say when I arrived the girlfriend was shocked and surprised and said she had never heard of this in home spa before. She washed up and came downstairs with a big smile on her face and said; "This is cool, I'm ready!" Kudos to boyfriends that do stuff like this.

Mom & Dad Day Surprise: A thoughtful daughter booked couples massage for her parents one Sunday to celebrate Mothers and Fathers Day combined. She told her parents to dress comfortable and be home by 3pm. We arrived and knocked on the door. The Father answered and seemed less than thrilled with our presence. He called his wife to the door. I was afraid they were going to ask us to leave! His wife convinced him it would be all right. Their experience was a positive one. Now we go to their home every few months to give the couple regular massages. Try everything once and twice if you like it!

Grandparents 50^Th Anniversary Surprise: This is one of my favorite stories. The Granddaughter and Daughter along with the rest of the "kids" in the family wanted to do something very special for their Grandparents 50^Th Wedding Anniversary. They booked a suite at a nice hotel and sent them on a treasure hunt throughout the hotel to find clues to various presents. One of the clues led them back to their room where The Pampered Spirit staff was waiting to give them Manicure's, Pedicure's and Massages. Yes, Grandpa got a Pedicure! The family also included a bottle of their favorite champagne, flowers and chocolates to complete the package. After all this treasure hunting was complete the couple was greeted by friends and family downstairs for the Party!

Wife's Sparkle Party: A police officer called and wanted help planning a baby shower for his wife. It was their second child so he said it's not really a baby shower but a Sprinkle. I said no it's a SPArkle! The name stuck so we went with it. We set up stations for chair massages, hand and foot treatments. ALL the ladies were surprised and his wife especially! This dad knew how to spoil his wife but her friends too!

Many small businesses are taking to the road both literally and figuratively, via the information highway. An increasing number of businesses offer services from the comfort and convenience of the customer’s location.

Brick and mortar commercial property is a thing of the past. Small business is struggling to sustain their inventory, services and customers in the traditional store front way. Business owners are turning bedrooms into offices and garages and basements into store rooms. Cutting down on overhead, developing websites and aggressively advertising online is necessary to the survival of several businesses.

Mobile service providers are dedicated professional’s that recognize and value the time of their customers. The Mobile workforce today is mildly comparable to the Milk Man or the Fuller Brush Man or even the gypsy selling his wares from a horse drawn wagon. The difference today’ is many mobile businesses have several employees or contractor’s covering a greater geographic area.

Mapping out appointments on a Rand McNally is no longer the preferred method of calculating distance. Multiple appointments in different locations and same day requests require technologically advance booking and scheduling applications.

Some may argue that much is lost in the cyber space. I disagree; meeting customer demands in a time crunched society is much more personal than waiting “online”.

Experiencing Aloha!

Ever hear of Lomi Lomi? In April 09' I journeyed to Ocean City NJ for a week long Lomi Lomi retreat. I want to share this experience with you. This work is something so deep so spiritual and so unbelievably satisfying I am still riding the wave.

To take time to be truly with yourself and others that seek the same within themselves is an honor to the highest power. Learning and using the tools stored within our "spiritual tupperware" to bring unconditional love and acceptance to our selves, clients and practice.

It was a healing journey. It was Shamanic.

Lomi is an ancient Hawaiian healing style of bodywork. And if this is your first introduction to the definition of Lomi Lomi lets leave it at that for now.

I know you want details but how can you really describe the perfect week. The house was transformed into a Hawaiian style temple space, the alter held special gifts, we wore floral sarongs and flowers in our hair sometimes, we cried, sang and laughed a lot. We spent time in silence, journeyed with our thoughts wrote in our journals our journey. We observed and demonstrated the lomi style of massage. Long full body strokes from ankle to shoulder lathered with oil. We ate the most magnificent whole foods. Our minds, body's and spirits overflowed. There was no want only love.

I remember thinking one day I can't believe I can receive, or give for that matter, any more love or massage; I am so full. And then you do and then you heart opens even more and then you learn more about yourself and you heal.

I am truly blessed to have experienced the art of Lomi Lomi and am pleased to bring the work to my friends, family and clients!

Katy and Nickey only had wonderful things to say about yesterday. Katy is a massage veteran and has a person she goes to regularly in a spa. She said that Danielle was just as good if not better than her regular. Nickey is not a big massage person, but she also said she could tell Danielle was very good. Given that feedback, I'd be very open to bringing her in again, maybe to pamper myself a bit.

Thank you very much for the experience. Finding an in-home massage on the internet was very intimidating and I consider myself lucky that I found a legit, high-performing service on the first shot.

MOBILE SPA'S...THE WAY TO GO!

Mobile Spa’s have taken off in the beginning of the 21st century. In 2008, over five hundred Mobile Spas advertise services throughout the United States. In 2006 & 2007, there were approximately 300 registered mobile spas in the US respectively. When I started The Pampered Spirit in 2005, there were roughly 100 mobile spas. Between January and March of 09, I found an additional 35 Mobile Spa’s in the US. Why have mobile spas increased so rapidly?

One attributing factor is the increase in wellness education throughout the media. One result of this outreach leads people to discuss the benefits of massage with their doctors. In July of 2008, thirteen percent of adult Americans reported discussing massage therapy with their doctors or healthcare providers. Sixty percent of those doctors either strongly recommended or encouraged massage therapy (1). Thank’s Doc!

A company offering on-site chair massage breaks instead of a donut break is a well needed… on-going campaign. Meeting quarterly quotas, rewarding hard work, boasting morale and preventing injury are some of the more common reasons companies offer on-site massage. Some companies may even receive a discount on their worker’s comp insurance! Kudos to Corporate America and Small Business’s for supporting a Mobile Spa.

The membership-based massage businesses have attributed to the number of people receiving their first massage. Between 2006 & 2007 1 in 4 American’s had received their first massage (2). Could the Massage Envy’s and Hand & Stone Companies take credit for this? I think so. You know what they say…try everything once and twice if you like it! Maybe you like it better at home!

Many people are realizing they need and require regular massage to keep up the pace, put in the long hours, maintain good mental health and relieve the pain and stress in their bodies. Time is our greatest luxury and many of us feel we do not have the time to go to the spa but feel we will benefit from a massage. A mobile spa therapist that arrives at your home with all the amenities is priceless. Imagine not having to race home from a spa so you could relax; you are all ready home!

There are several reasons people prefer a mobile spa to a location spa. The following is a Top 10 list of why many Go Mobile:

The month of December always brings warm memories and anticipation for things yet to come. My family celebrates Christmas. I think of Christmas as the coming of the light. There is excitement in the air. No matter what is going on personally I turn my thoughts to others and the spirit of giving.
What can I do for others? What do people really need? The answer has never been tangible. I believe the answer is love, time and peace. Love from your family and friends, time to spend with those you love and peace of mind to enjoy the moment.
How do we give the best of ourselves when we may not always feel these emotions we wish for others? Take a deep breath, enjoy a happy memory or visualize a new one, breathe again and enjoy the moment. You have just given yourself Love, time to remember and the peace of mind to do so. End of Life Massage

In the fall of 08 I was called upon to do a massage on a women suffering from cancer, as a favor to a my client wanting to do something nice for her friend. I accepted the honor not knowing the extent or progression of her cancer. I was soon to find out.
I mentally and physically prepared myself before the appointment. It was the only massage I booked for that day.
Upon arriving I took a long deep clearing breath on the harvest decorated porch. Rang the bell and waited....
My client Nancy answered the door and thanked me for coming. The house was quite and smelled of warm memories. Beautiful green healthy plants adorned the upstairs front window in the living room. I set up my table there. Nancy told me her friend was very weak and frail and has some lesions on her back she is embarrassed of. Nancy covered the lesions with a washcloth and surgical tape. I said I understood and asked Nancy if she would she help me help her on the table.
Noreen walks into the room and introduces herself. She apologies several times for her slow and belabored movements. I let her know right off the bat that I was there for her and I will make this experience a comfortable and enjoyable one. Nancy assures her that I was the best and have worked with cancer patients before. With Noreen on the table Nancy makes her exit.
I asked Noreen what it was I could do for her. She told me that she likes her hands and feet massaged. I asked her if she has ever had a professional massage before. She said no but was very excited to have her first and what would be only massage. Noreen's hearing was not good. I imagine it was the pain medication. This was not going to be easy she was so sick and obviously in terrible pain. I again asked Noreen what I could do for her and more specifically what she would like my intention to be for her for this massage. "Do you want me to help you let go or do you want to remain present?" "Oh no she says I am very much present and want to stay that way" I honored her request.
Noreen breathed in deep gasps the air rattled in her chest and a gurgling sound vibrated her throat. At times there was an odor I could not put my finger on. I dabbed lavender oil under my nose. I continued the massage her skin was so paper thin.
Thoughts started to flood my head like...The will to live is so strong even in the presence of death! Why would you want to stay present here being so sick. I pushed these thoughts away during the massage and have comtemplated them often since.
I helped Noreen turn over to massage her back the washcloth covering the broken skin on her shoulders had shifted. I did my best to cover them back up but the tape that once held the washcloth in place would not adhere. Then I knew the smell of rotting flesh. I could have cried but I stayed grounded. The smell in the room was totally unavoidable now. At one point I thought she was asleep or as close to rest as she could be; then her heart rate increased and I knew she was having a hard time breathing. The words were on my tongue to suggest we should end now when Noreen beat me to it. I helped her up to a sitting position and got her some water. She moved to the couch and Nancy came back into the room.
Noreen thought the massage was wonderful and was genuinely appreciative. I thought Noreen was a graceful person, wise and older then her years. She said she would like another massage one day. Noreen did not want to die. She offered to make tea and asked if I cared for a cup. I could not stay I had to get home. All I wanted to do was go home and see my family and take a good look at what I have. I appreciated the offer but I was spent. I ran out of there although I did not want to seem that way.
Back in my car I took a deep breath and thanked God for the strength and said a pray for Noreen.
Noreen had her massage on a Thursday, she passed away on Saturday the same week.
I was honored to give Noreen a massage.
I hope to meet again someday too Noreen!

My first Mammography!

It’s cold and gray outside, typical February morning. My appointment is not till 2:30. The waiting is making me anxious! In the shower I frantically start doing a self-breast exam and begin to worry if everything is normal; was that lump there last month? I’m dressed; it’s 12:30 p.m. I run a few errands around town and find myself forgetting simple things like; my cell phone and the coffee on the counter at WaWa. I desperately need some more caffeine. I am starting to sweat and I am not wearing any deodorant. I play around on the computer till 2:05. Time to leave, the wind blows the car door against my shoulder; ouch! I arrive at the Brick Imaging Center at 2:20.
The receptionists’ were extremely polite. Everyone at the center appeared warm with sweet dispositions. I filled out paperwork with a pen in the shape of a rose. More sweetness! Next, I am greeted by my technician; the person who in a few short minutes will be lifting, moving and pressing my breasts onto a plate. I am lead through two curtains to a pseudo dressing room where I undress and re-dress in a poncho split up the front and split slightly higher on the sides. I am glad I wore my “big” jeans for the occasion! Now for the wait….there is two other women in the room with me dressed in pastel capes with pocketbook swung over their arms. After only five minutes I complain out loud to my robed comrades, “Boy, how long do we have to wait in hear”? I realized at that moment it had only been a few minutes. I guess I couldn't’t stand the silence. I began to get into a good Ladies Home Journal article on cheating spouses when I hear, “Mrs. Turnbach, come with me”. (Hold on one minute, it dawned on me this is the second time since I’ve arrived I have been called Mrs. Turnbach, Do they HAVE to keep reminding me of how old I am and that I am here for a mammography!)
The Test:
The technician could not have been nicer. We talked about hair. She liked my hair cut. I said, “I did not really do anything with it today” (you know, no reason because I was just being checked for CANCER!) Her hair was thin, shoulder length with bad bangs, she said she always had the bangs and was considering growing them out. She wanted the reverse bob like me but did not think it would look good. (As much as I enjoyed talking to her, I’m thinking is it over yet? Are the pictures being taken as we speak? Is there someone else coming into the room to man handle my breasts like raw meatballs in a busy Italian restaurant?) My eyes begin to dart around and I said to the sweet tech, “O.K.”. She must have known I was then ready. The instruction begins, “Swing the right side of the cape over your shoulder please” Miss nice girl with bad hair said. Boob is exposed! Who cares, I have no problem topless. (For some this may be embarrassing and nervousness may set in) I just did not know, since it was my first time, what to do in this position? Do I stand straight, move my breast to the right, and turn sideways? Then the lady gently lays her soft hands on my breast and kneads the tissue (three times; top bottom and side) forward onto the squishy breast plate. The test was a breeze. Two pictures each breast. The first picture is taken head on; first right breast, then left. The pad your breast laid on was soft and warm. Watch out though for your ribcage that leans up against the metal of the machine, that’s chilly, Burr! The clear plastic plate came down on my breast, squishing it like a sandwich. I glanced down and notice numbers 1, 5, 10, 15 on the “breast plate” Mine filled it all the way to the 15! Not bad I thought (like I even knew what these numbers meant). Hurt? No! Weird? Yes! Especially if you look down at your breast tissue and see it in a way that you HAVE NEVER SEEN A BREAST LOOK BEFORE. Not even Picasso himself could masterfully arrange this form.
Back in the waiting room…
I open a Christmas issue of Redbook and WA-LA! A before and after picture of a lady, with thin Blond hair, with the reverse boob (oops, I meant bob, I will leave that slip) I rip out the picture for what’s her name because of the similarity. I am still in my super hero cape! Wait wait wait…, 20 more minutes. “Mrs. Turnbach”, (I am used to being called by my sur name at this point, “Yess!” “Come with me”. We step into a room and I am barely through the doorway before the nurse says; “Everything is fine, you have healthy breast tissue, we will see you back… (Is she kidding? fine? I went through all of this and I am fine, this is surreal, I was prepared for the worst, hair loss, reconstruction if necessary, buying everything with pink on it, when is the walk?) In 5 years at age 40, 35 is just a base line. Then after the age of 40 it is once a year, O.K.” I respond with a big, “O.K., O.K.”! Yippee, I trot back to the dressing room/waiting room. There was some baby powder I took advantage of since you have to have the test with no deodorant on or perfumes. Dressed, my black Coach bag dusted with powder, I leave the office but not before finding Miss Nice Person to give her the picture of the Redbook Model. She seemed to genuinely appreciate the gesture and said she may just get the nerve to try the new style one day. Then she asked me if I cut hair? “No”, I said.
Off I go…back in my truck I felt dizzy…where am I going? Hey, who cares, I do not have cancer, Thank God! THANK GOD!
Breast Cancer awareness has significantly increased over the past several years. In 2007, 32 million dollars was raised for The Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Perhaps all this awareness has frightened some women believing; I could have breast cancer. This may or may not be the case. The best detection of this potentially fatal and life changing illness is the Mammogram! So GO! GO every year, DO NOT wait, there is nothing to be worried about; See!

Massaging The Masters of Metal

I was subcontracted to perform table and chair massage backstage at the Tweeter Center in Camden NJ for The Masters of Metal Tour. What a blast! Besides the fact that I have never been backstage before at a concert let along meeting some old school Rockers. The bands on tour are; Testament, Heaven & Hell, MotorHead & Judas Priest. I was right back in 1987 when these bands were popular for me and we wore black tee-shirts and big hair with tight pants & wigwams. Good Times Good Times.

Back in 2008 with stardust flying around it was just another day at work for most. Backstage people were mellow, some looked soooo tired. Their work is hard setting up the stage, lighting, sound etc. Amazing the coordination and meeting of the minds of the production teams, Live Nation, Band Managers, Band Members.

One of the most important members of the team, in my opinion, I met; the Tour Bus Driver. 18 hours straight from Minnesota to NJ to then help set up for opening night this dude really needed a massage. He was my longest client of the night topping off at 35 minutes for a table massage.

My partner in massage for the evening was Gina. I love Gina she knows whats up. How to work a crowd and similar motivated attitude. We figured since were both here why not double up on the massages. So when Billy from MotorHead got off stage he came for a massage. He complained of neck pain from headbanging and low back pain. This was one of the biggest dudes I had ever worked on. Gina and I both went to town on the Monster of Metal.

Everyone was generous and polite and we did have some great background music to boot.
Tracey from Live Nation was our contact person and she was happy with the services provided! Yes! I hope to continue to massage at the show!

NJ Massage Certification Finally Comes Through!

Congratulations to the NJ Department of Nursing and the sub department of Massage and Somatic Therapies for stamping a certified envelope issuing my New Jersey State Massage License. I applied for license November of 2006 and received a "Congratulations" letter June of 2008. Oh the bureaucracy!
I have had the boards number on speed dial for a year and a half now. Every 6 weeks or so I would call Kimberly McFadden head of the Massage and Somatic Therapies department and just to remind them I was still out there and they had my money and when could I expect a response?
God Bless Mrs. McFadden for her patience and cordial responses to what I believe to be a state wide epidemic for massage therapists. Yes, we all understand it is in someone Else's hands at this point and not Mrs. McFadden but for the love of trees why is this system so slow?
The real kicker is that my certification expires November 2008! When I read this I was like What? that's 5 months from now! They have got to be kidding. Where is my extension from the Attorney General for taking so long to process my application? Perhaps I will wait till June of 2010 to pay Consumer Affairs!
I would love to hear from other massage therapists experiences with the NJ State Board of Nursing in regards to Massage Therapy Certification

When buying a car do you drive to any lot see a car and say I'll take it? Do you shop around first before driving onto a lot? I think most of us do. The same goes for choosing a mobile spa, massage therapist, skin care specialist or any professional. Creditability is the key.

Here are a few key questions to ask when planning a Spa Party. How long has the business been up and running? Ask for references and view testimonials. Are the therapists insured and how long have they been practicing? Call several companies first to see which spa party company offers the most value for your dollar. They are not all the same.

Trip to Glenn Ivy!

Heather and I have been friends since High School so when she invited me to join her at her Aunt Rene's home in San Diego I could not resist. I made the journey to California early January 2008. Heather was on leave from Iraq where she is currently serving an 18 month tour.

Among all the wonderful moments spent at the beach, experiencing Cirque d Solie under a big top, dining in the Gas Lamp district at Chianti's Restaurant, sipping delicious California wine, spending time with Heather and Roy (they were engaged in Airport days earlier as Heather arrived home from overseas), a Mexican BBQ at Aunt Renee's, sipping more wine, the best day was our Trip to Glenn Ivy!

Glenn Ivy Hot Springs is located in Corona CA. Upscale and pretty big as far as springs go. It was not crowded on this sunny California 80 degree day in January.

I arrived like a kid at an amusement park. Wanting to try everything first then picking my favorite to go back to again and again. We viewed the locker room that housed a Roman Bath. "I want to go in here first", I said. But it was too nice outside.

Poolside we dropped our gear and made way for the Sulfur Baths. Narrow, deep, hot, cemented, individual pools of bliss. I have always loved soaking in the sulfur pools. Your body soaks up the minerals and smell of course and you just know it's doing something good for the body. We drank lots and lots of water.

I ran from pool to pool dipping and swimming in various temperatures. I caught a glimpse of Heather and Roy in the sun pool floating hand and hand on rafts soaking in the sun. I announced that I was off to play in some mud. The rest of the gang followed soon after.

"Club Mud" was a concrete enclave of palm trees, lounge chairs and piles of beautiful mineral rich mud in the middle of a pool. Wading toward the mud my legs took on an orange hew from the muddy waters. I grabbed a handful of cool mud and began rubbing it all over my face and body. Heather and Roy joined me for a little mud slinging and help with those not so easy to reach areas. After we are fully covered we leave the pool of mud and head for the Waffa. A baking chamber designed to dry the mud. Similar to a sauna but with less heat. Heather is pictured in the Waffa in the above picture on this blog. The mud began to dry and flake off our skin. Movement was restricted as to not break the mud and loose any effect! We waddled to the outdoor showers where the mud removing began. I left Heather and Roy in the showers and didn't see them till much much latter....I had to hurry back to my towel to get ready for my massage.

I arrived at the cabana with anticipation. I was clear in my request for a relaxing, Swedish, make me float kind of massage. My therapist gave a firm, therapeutic with some deep tissue massage in a somewhat robotic fashion. I was disappointed on the table and a pile of mush afterwards. Upon returning poolside I went to lie down and actually fell through those plastic stripes on the lounge chair; a hand here and foot there. It was quit the scene and plenty of laughter. Heather was relishing in her facial while Roy was showing off his new toes. Yes, Roy is officially Metro now with a pedicure! No polish.

There was one more attraction at Glenn Ivy we crammed in for the day. The Grotto. A man made cave below the sun and pools. We descended and were greeted by friendly staff ready to paint our bodies with a green mixture of aloe Vera and moisturizing butter something. The application felt wonderful only too short. The cave was similar to the Waffa only cooler. We were told to hang tight for 20 minutes and then hit the showers again.

Up top the sun was setting and it was time to go. One last trip to the lovely locker room and I waved goodbye to the Roman Bath I never did soak in. One of the few I missed. The experience will last a lifetime and I couldn't of enjoyed it more with my best friends!
